If you’re a first time buyer or looking to move home then you will need to instruct and conveyancer or solicitor to act for you with the mortgage company and the legal firm acting for the other side of the property transaction.

It is not currently possible to act for yourself in England & Wales where you are securing a mortgage or selling a property. There are a minority of situations where you can act if buying a home without a mortgage however in 99% of cases you will be using a conveyancing firm.
